Hi. Theo and baba are wondering what you are up to. We read your posts and it sounds like you are getting settled. That was amazing to hear about the earthquake. We didn’t hear anything about it here.
(from Theo…) I have gotten interested in a new book series called Captain Underpants! It is very funny and they switch signs into very funny things.
(from Mike…) It’s exciting that he loves the books…but I think he’s learning some naughty new things!
Love keeping up with your adventures. Thinking of you.

Hello, Yuen-Killicks!
Yes, I’m getting settled in, I’ve found a place to live in the middle of town so it is very easy to get places. I am having a hard time remembering that things are a lot closer together here. I left my house Saturday morning to catch a bus and I left myself about 10 minutes to walk to the bus station…..but it only took me two minutes to get there! Thank goodness the inside of the station was open or I would have frozen sitting outside for all the extra time I had!
Theo, I am so glad you like Captain Underpants, I know a lot of 3rd graders that like those books a lot. And did you know that the author is Dav Pilkey and that he wrote all the Dragon books? Those are some of my favorites!
I’ll keep updating as I go along. It has been hard so far because I had to go to internet cafes to go on the computer and that was adding up to a lot of money being spent. But now I found out that the internet is free at the library that is a block from my house! Hooray!
Love you, too, let me know how all your summer plans are shaping up,
Miss Young

Hi, there!
Glad you got the postcard! I sent one to every member of our class though one page of addresses got lost and I had to send the kiddos from the end of the alphabet their postcards at school! I hope that they all arrive soon!
I’m doing really well, I’m in Sydney now and it is HOT! I’m getting sorted, finding a place to stay and got a temporary job at a cafe to make ends meet and try to save a little money. I leave for Hong Kong on the 25th of February and I am so excited for Asia (and to not be working! I am exhausted!) and what comes after…..so far I have planned to go to China, Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and then Eastern Europe. I should be home in mid-August, I’ll let you know the details when it gets closer.
Much love to your wonderful family, tell everyone at P.S. 58 that I say hello!
Lots of love,
Miss Young

Sharon & Laurie
Just cked your update & found out about your career change! I read somewhere that people who like purple don’t mind change…..so you must like purple, right?! Living in Oregon will put you closer to your dad, Heather & Erin, since they’re headed to CA in August. They’re stopping in the QC on their way thru & I’ve talked w/your grandpa about a little get together. It won’t be the same w/out you tho!! I’ll try to get over & get some pics of the house & e-mail to you. He’s been getting some outside work done & it looks great……….all the neighbors are stopping by and yelling”looks great Barn!!” Laurie stopped today and found him H2Oing the plants & he was checking his watch & each plant got so many minutes of water. Gotta love his thinking process!! Also, Patrick put something on YouTube about him & his flying adventures, but I haven’t seen it yet.
Continued wonders on your Adventure!!

Hi, sorry for the late response!
Yes, I do like purple! And though I’m not the best with change, I really saw a need in the places I was traveling (especially SE Asia) for people equipped to do a kind of economic building I’ve been studying about. Economists call it “capacity building” and it involves people in developing nations learning from health (and business and ecology, etc.) professionals from the developed world rather than getting handouts from NGOs. It is fascinating stuff, I’m really excited about my plans!
I’m so sorry I’ll miss another QC reunion, I will be headed out to Portland around the beginning of September and I don’t know yet if I will be able to stop in RI or not. Many friends in Chicago are urging me to make a stopover and if that is the case I will get out to see you guys for sure. So many things to wrap up in New York! I need to get a bunch of forms from all the schools I went to out here so I can apply for school in Portland, see my former students, have my favorite Mexican food, a million little things! I will surely miss New York but Portland is a great town I have visited often and I look forward to exploring it.
Hope to see you soon, much love,
Maureen.
